Official Launch of MUKMIN Skills, organised by Pertubuhan Gabungan MUKMIN Nasional (MUKMIN)

On 9 August 2026, PRIMAS Deputy President Mr. C. Krishnan, Vice President Dr. A. Sinnaiah @ Seenu, Committee Members Mr. K. Shaker and Mr. S. Sathianarayanan, together with PRIMAS Members Mrs. Privitha Kumari and Mrs. Telaka, attended the Official Launch of MUKMIN Skills, organised by Pertubuhan Gabungan MUKMIN Nasional (MUKMIN) at The Arch Galleries, Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.The event was graced by YAB Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, and marked the official launch of MUKMIN Skills, an initiative aimed at empowering talent, enhancing employability and creating future-ready pathways through lifelong learning and entrepreneurship.Also present were YBhg. Meeting with Tuan Mahadi bin Kasdi, Pengarah Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Negeri Sembilan

On 5 August 2026, PRIMAS Deputy President Mr. C. Krishnan, Vice President Dr. A. Sinnaiah @ Seenu, Assistant Treasurer Mr. B. Dhayalan, Committee Member Mr. P. Previn Kumar, together with PRIMAS Members Mr. Pravin, Mr. Baskaran, Mr. Devan and Mr. Iswaran, met with Tuan Mahadi bin Kasdi, Pengarah Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Negeri Sembilan.The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss matters affecting the Indian restaurant industry, particularly issues relating to JTK compliance requirements and foreign worker applications. PRIMAS also appealed for the Department's assistance in facilitating and providing guidance to members in obtaining the necessary JTK clearances to ensure a smoother foreign worker application process and compliance with the relevant regulations.

Visit to SME Corp. Malaysia

On 3 August 2026, PRIMAS President YBhg. Dato' J. Govindasamy @ Suresh, Deputy President Mr. C. Krishnan, Vice President Dr. A. Sinnaiah @ Seenu, Honorary Secretary Mr. N. Shanmugam, Assistant Treasurer Mr. B. Dhayalan, Committee Members Mr. K. Shaker, Mr. S. Sathianarayanan and Mr. D. Poobalan, together with PRIMAS Member Mrs. Telaka, paid a courtesy visit to SME Corp. Malaysia at 11.00 a.m. at Platinum Sentral, Kuala Lumpur.The PRIMAS delegation was received by Encik Zaky Moh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, YM Raja Rozaila Raja Azman, Director, Cik Kausala Gopal, Senior Director, Puan Hazlin Ghazali, Senior Manager, Encik Roshaidi Rosli, Senior Manager, and Cik Asha Navaratnam, Senior Manager, who represented SME Corp. Malaysia during the engagement.The courtesy visit provided an opportunity for both organisations to exchange views on matters affecting the Indian restaurant industry, particularly the challenges faced by SMEs. Discussions also focused on potential areas of collaboration to strengthen the growth, of Indian Restaurant Industry, including the availability of grants, financial assistance and capacity-building programmes that could benefit the restaurant industry.

Official Launch of the Indian Muslim Transformation Framework 2030 (IMTF2030)

Siva Rao, together with PRIMAS Members Dato’ Yuvabalan, YBhg. Dato’ V. Harikrishnan, Mr. Ellan and Mr. Chandran, attended the Official Launch of the Indian Muslim Transformation Framework 2030 (IMTF2030) organised by Pertubuhan Gabungan MUKMIN Nasional (MUKMIN). The event was officiated by YAB Perdana Menteri, Dato’ Seri Utama Anwar Ibrahim and held at PICCA Convention Centre, Butterworth Arena, Penang.Also present were PRIMAS Patron Tan Sri Dato’ D. Murugan @ Ramesh and Datuk Hj. Mohammed Mosin bin Abdul Razak, President of PRESMA.The event highlighted the MUKMIN Future Leaders Scholarship (MFLS), offering over 400 scholarship opportunities worth more than RM10 million, as well as a RM2 million allocation to support underprivileged children and students pursuing higher education. YAB Prime Minister also emphasised the urgent need to address the critical shortage of foreign workers, directing the relevant ministries to resolve the issue within one month, with priority given to sectors facing acute labour shortages, including the restaurant industry.PRIMAS appreciates the opportunity to participate and remains committed to supporting the continued growth of the restaurant industry in Malaysia.

On 22 July 2026, PRIMAS organised an Exclusive FWe & eQuota Briefing for PRIMAS Members at Kanna Curry House, Petaling Jaya.The briefing was conducted by representatives from JTKSM, namely Puan Kala a/p Thangarajoo and Puan Suraya Bt. Sulaiman, together with representatives from Bestinet Sdn. Bhd., namely Tuan Muhammad Zaidi, Puan Junainah, Puan Iffah, Puan Farah, and Puan Amira.The session focused on the FWe and eQuota Modules, providing members with an overview of the foreign worker approval application process through the FWCMS system, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.PRIMAS extends its sincere appreciation to the representatives from JTKSM and Bestinet Sdn. PRIMAS and PRESMA jointly organised a meeting with YB Tuan Lim Guan Eng, Member of Parliament for Bagan and former Minister of Finance, Malaysia

On 23 June 2026, Persatuan Pengusaha Restoran India Malaysia (PRIMAS) and Persatuan Pengusaha Restoran Muslim Malaysia (PRESMA) jointly organised a meeting with YB Tuan Lim Guan Eng, Member of Parliament for Bagan and former Minister of Finance, Malaysia, held at PRESMA Office, Sentul Raya Boulevard at 12.00 noon.The PRIMAS delegation comprised President YBhg. Dato’ J. Govindasamy @ Suresh; Vice President Dr. A. Sinnaiah @ Seenu; Honorary Secretary Mr. N. Shanmugam; Committee Member Mr. U. S. Kannan; and Committee Member Mr. K. Mahavisnoo.The meeting served as a platform to discuss key issues affecting the restaurant industry, particularly the challenges faced by Indian restaurant operators. Attended a meeting with the Minister of Human Resources and Honourable Prime Minister.

On 15 June 2026, PRIMAS President, YBhg. Dato’ J. Govindasamy @ Suresh, and Deputy President, Mr. C. Krishnan, met with YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, Minister of Human Resources, as well as the Honourable Prime Minister, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, to discuss matters relating to the foreign worker issue affecting the restaurant industry. Also in attendance were PRESMA President, Datuk Mohammed Mosin Abdul Razak, and Vice President, Tuan Razali Yusof.YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan informed PRIMAS that the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) is actively engaged in discussions with the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) to address the matter as soon as possible. He emphasised that both ministries are working diligently and are currently examining the relevant issues and potential solutions.Following the submission of the memorandum by PRIMAS to the Prime Minister during the AIMST programme in Sungai Petani, Kedah, the matter was subsequently brought to the attention of the Cabinet. The Prime Minister has instructed the relevant ministries involved in the formulation and implementation of foreign worker policies, including KDN, KPDN and KESUMA, to study the matter comprehensively.The ministries are currently gathering relevant data and assessing the actual workforce requirements of the industry, while also reviewing the current status of foreign workers in the country.During today’s meeting with the Prime Minister, PRIMAS once again took the opportunity to appeal and highlight the serious challenges faced by the restaurant industry, particularly in relation to the foreign worker issue and the difficulties currently faced by operators nationwide.The Prime Minister reiterated and reassured both associations that the matter is being studied based on his instructions and that the Government remains committed to resolving the issue as soon as possible. He further assured that the concerns of the business community are being taken seriously and that the Government will continue working towards a practical and sustainable solution.Members are advised to remain assured that the issue is being actively addressed by the Government, which is fully aware of the challenges faced by the industry and is working towards an appropriate resolution. PRIMAS will continue to engage with the relevant authorities and keep members informed of any further developments.

Attended the 97th Annual General Meeting of the Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry

On 14 June 2026, PRIMAS Honorary Secretary, Mr. N. Shanmugam, and Assistant Treasurer, Mr. B. Dhayalan, attended the 97th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KLSICCI), held at Thotta Mahligai, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, at 9.00 AM.The AGM facilitated constructive engagement among members, industry leaders, and key representatives of the business community. Attended a meeting with the Minister of Digital, YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo

As part of its ongoing efforts to build momentum and secure support from various ministries and departments, PRIMAS has been actively engaging relevant ministries and departments to advocate for its appeal to the Government regarding the urgent need for foreign workers in the Indian restaurant industry.On 8 June 2026, PRIMAS Deputy President, Mr. C. Krishnan, Hon. Secretary, Mr. N. Shanmugam, together with PRIMAS member, Madam Gurdip Kaur, attended a meeting with the Minister of Digital, YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo. The meeting was held at 2:30 PM at MoF Inc. Tower, Platinum Park.During the meeting, PRIMAS submitted a letter and memorandum seeking the Minister's assistance in addressing the foreign worker issues currently affecting the Indian restaurant industry. YB Minister received and acknowledged the concerns raised by PRIMAS positively and informed the delegation that he would raise the matter in Cabinet, as pledged during the discussion.Following the meeting, and in line with his commitment to follow through on the matter, YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo brought the issue directly to the attention of the Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, during a formal engagement with the Ministry the very next day.In that discussion, Tuan Gobind Singh Deo highlighted the challenges faced by the industry and the urgency of the situation. YB Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail acknowledged the concerns raised and assured that the matter would be looked into further. YB Datuk Seri Saifuddin also requested additional information on the current status on foreign workers, which PRIMAS promptly provided with all the necessary data and supporting details.

PRIMAS attended the Briefing on the Post-Maternity Leave Allowance (EPCB)

On 4 June 2026, PRIMAS Assistant Treasurer Mr. B. Dhayalan and Committee Member Mr. S. Sathianarayanan attended the Briefing on the Post-Maternity Leave Allowance (EPCB), which commenced at 10:00 a.m. at the Zenith Grand Ballroom, Zenith Hotel Putrajaya.The briefing provided industry representatives with a comprehensive overview of the newly introduced EPCB initiative, including its objectives, implementation framework and expected benefits. The EPCB is an initiative providing eligible women employees with additional paid leave of up to 30 days after the completion of 98 days of maternity leave. The benefit, proposed under the Employment Insurance System Act 2017 through amendments to the Act, is to be paid at a rate of 80 per cent of the insured woman’s assumed monthly wage and will be disbursed as a lump-sum payment.Participants were also introduced to the Labour Market Exchange (LMX) portal under MYFutureJobs, a platform that provides labour market data, employment trends, workforce insights and job market statistics. The portal offers users access to real-time labour market information, analytical tools and advanced search functions to support informed workforce planning and decision-making.PRIMAS’ participation reflects its continued commitment to staying informed of policy developments and actively engaging with initiatives introduced by the Government.

PRIMAS discussion session with the Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP)

Kathiresan, attended a discussion session with the Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP).The meeting was held at Weld Suite, Dewan Bandaran Pulau Pinang, George Town, and focused on the reopening of applications for Temporary Workers’ Accommodation (TLQ) for existing premises without relocation or additional units within the administrative area of MBPP.The session provided an opportunity for PRIMAS to engage with the local authority on matters concerning workers’ accommodation requirements and related regulatory procedures.PRIMAS will continue to work closely with relevant authorities to ensure that members’ concerns are properly represented and addressed.

PRIMAS Committee Member attended the Mesyuarat Penyelarasan Bersama Persatuan Pengusaha Makanan di Wilayah Persekutuan

PRIMAS Committee Member Mr. K.Shaker attended the Mesyuarat Penyelarasan Bersama Persatuan Pengusaha Makanan di Wilayah Persekutuan organized by Jabatan Wilayah Persekutuan (JWP) at Menara Seri Wilayah, Putrajaya, at 2.30pm.During the meeting, JWP shared updates on the development of a Senior Citizens Meal Discount Programme for the Federal Territories. This initiative is aimed at helping senior citizens cope with the rising cost of living by providing access to discounted, balanced, and nutritious meals at participating restaurants and eateries.PRIMAS also proposed several alternative initiatives to further benefit its members. JWP informed that these suggestions would be reviewed and discussed in future meetings, with more details and potential benefits for the restaurant industry to be shared in due course.

Majlis Anugerah “Toilet of The Year Award” Tahun 2025

PRIMAS Vice President Dr. A.Sinnaiah @ Seenu attended the Majlis Anugerah “Toilet of The Year Award” Tahun 2025 (TOTYA 2025) organised by KPKT and officiated by the Minister of Housing and Local Government.Eight winners received RM20,000, a trophy, and a certificate. Starting 2026, only premises with clean toilets that meet KPKT standards will qualify for business licenses as part of the BMW (Bersih, Menawan, Wangi) initiative to improve public toilets for everyone.PRIMAS extends its heartiest congratulations to all winners and applauds the government’s ongoing efforts to improve public sanitation nationwide.

PRIMAS extends its warmest congratulations to YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan on his appointment as Minister of Human Resources

PRIMAS President YBhg. Dato’ J. Govindasamy @ Suresh, Deputy President Mr. C. Krishnan, Vice President Dr. A. Sinnaiah @ Seenu, and PRIMAS member Ms. M. Amutha Devi met with YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan immediately after he took the oath of office as Minister of Human Resources (KSM) to convey congratulations and honour him with a garland.The PRIMAS delegation spent approximately 30–45 minutes in a discussion over coffee with YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, during which key issues affecting the restaurant sector were highlighted. Among the matters discussed were Akta 60K and Akta 446, with a request for these regulations to be reviewed or for appropriate leniency to be considered, as well as foreign worker related issues, including the need to open new quotas for the approval of foreign workers. YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan expressed his understanding of the concerns raised and strongly assured that the issues would be solved.YB Kumaresan and YB Senator Dr. Lingeshwaran also expressed their support and assured PRIMAS that the issues raised would be given due attention.

Nestlé in collaboration with PRIMAS

Nestlé, in collaboration with PRIMAS, successfully held a Trial and Experimenting Session at Wisma PRIMAS to recreate the authentic Indian coffee taste (kopi susu lembu) using premium coffee machines and fresh cow’s milk.The session gathered PRIMAS leaders, and members to explore how traditional coffee flavours can be enhanced through modern brewing innovation. Attendees witnessed live demonstrations by Nestlé’s professional team, experimenting with different milk types and blends to achieve the rich, aromatic taste of Indian-style coffee.

Meeting with Stakeholders Regarding the Use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) : Penang

PRIMAS Committee Members Dato’ Seri N.Ramanathan and Mr. S.Siva Rao, together with PRIMAS Member Mr. M.Kathiresan, attended the “Mesyuarat Libat Urus Bersama Pihak Berkepentingan Berkaitan Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)” organized by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Penang.The session, chaired by Tuan Mohd Suffian bin Mohd Abass, “Ketua Pegawai Penguat Kuasa Negeri” of KPDN Penang, focused on proposed amendments to Regulation 18 of the Control of Supplies (Amendment) Regulations 2021, aimed at strengthening policy and regulatory oversight of LPG.PRIMAS shared constructive views and suggestions on the use of LPG within the restaurant industry, emphasizing the need for practical and sustainable regulations that support business operations while ensuring safety and compliance. PRIMAS also submitted a memorandum to KPDN, outlining key concerns and recommendations from the industry’s perspective.

PRIMAS Honorary Secretary, Mr. N.Shanmugam, attended the “Mesyuarat dan Libat Urus Perbincangan Bersama Pihak Berkepentingan Berkaitan Penggunaan Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)” organized by KPDN Selangor. The session was held at 9:30 am in the Meeting Room, Level 17, KPDN Selangor Office.The proposed amendment aims to establish a clearer legal framework to strengthen policy and regulatory control over Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).In line with this, KPDN Selangor conducted the engagement session to gather feedback and input from key industry representatives. PRIMAS shared its views and recommendations during the session, providing constructive insights to ensure that the policy aligns with the practical needs of the restaurant industry.

The session was held at 10.00 am at Bilik Melati, Level 26, KPDN WPKL.The session was convened as directed by KPDN to gather feedback, address operational concerns, and strengthen coordination with industry players regarding LPG usage regulations and compliance requirements.
