Consumer Advocacy Program (Intellectual Property Protection (IP)

On 27-02-2024, PRIMAS Vice President, Dr. A. Sinnaiah @ Seenu, the Hon. Secretary, Mr. N. Shanmugan, Committee Member, Mr. U.S. Kannan and Members, Messrs. K. Guhaamuthu & Kathiravan Mathivanan attended the Consumer Advocacy Program (Intellectual Property Protection (IP)) in regards to the enforcement of streaming technology under the Copyright Act 1987, organized by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) @ 9.30 a.m. in Sunway Putra Mall, KPDN Wilayah Persekutuan.

The Director of KPDN Wilayah Persekutuan, Kuala Lumpur, YBhg. Tuan Ariffin Bin Samsudin officiated and gave a speech on the objective of the program. Intellectual property (IP) as a new engine of growth for the enhancement of economic and social prosperity, focusing on maximizing the contribution of IP in accelerating the socio-economic and technological development through the creation of an environment that encourages continuous creation of IP.

The importance of IP to economic growth has long been recognized. In the current knowledge-based economy, IP is a valuable economic asset as well as a critical business tool that provides competitiveness, Malaysia’s long-term competitiveness in the knowledge economy and constant updating of laws and regulations to keep abreast with international development, new challenges and new issues.

Intellectual Property Law includes patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. All of these areas are related in that they deal with protecting. The aim is to create a community that values IP as a valuable economic asset and respects the right of owners.
