DIALOG SESSION WITH THE INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVES IN REGARDS TO THE MANAGEMENT OF FOREIGN WORKERS & EXPATRIATES

PRIMAS President, Mr. J. Govindasamy @ Suresh and Vice President, Mr. A. Sinnaiah @ Seenu attend the Dialog Session with the Industry Representatives in regards to the management of foreign workers and expatriates with the Minister of KDN YB Senator Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Bin Ismail in Putrajaya at 2.00 p.m.

This dialogue session’s aims was to provide an opportunity for industry representatives to hold a bilateral session with the YB Minister of KDN, particularly regarding the management of foreign workers and expatriates. Through this platform, industry representatives are also welcome to submit questions, feedback and suggestions in the context of the employment management of foreign workers and expatriates in Malaysia.

PRIMAS members various issues were brought to YB Minister’s attention: -

1) Applications through FWCMS/eQUOTA/Few.
2) Recalibration application for foreign workers RTK 2.0
3) Extension of the age for foreign workers from 18 years - 45 years to 18 years - 55 years.
4) Approval of replacement of foreign workers through "Check Out Memo"
5) ACT 44 – applying for placement of foreign workers on shop premises
6) applying to consider the levy rate to be adjusted from the first year onwards without a limit of years 10 - 13 only, as practiced in the foreign domestic helper sector.
7) Applying for the 1:3 qualification for foreign workers to be replaced with a 1:10 ratio (1 citizen is given 10 foreign workers).
8) ACT 446 (minimum housing, accommodation and worker facilities Act 1990)
9) Complaints that upon Arrival of Foreign Workers at KLIA Airport, the KLIA Immigration Department have requested that the Official KSM Approval Letter and Levy Payment Receipt printed through the FWCMS system be certified as true copies from KDN.
10) The perennial problems of long congested queues faced by Members in the Immigration Department Shah Alam, Negeri Selangor.

YB Minister was approachable and he informed that all issues are noted and that a meeting with other 2 Ministries – KSM & KPDN for a final discussion to rectify the issues.
